THE annual Wellington Civic Service at St John’s Parish Church on Sunday was attended by just under 100 people representing many community groups, societies, clubs and sports groups in the town, as well as local authorities.
The service was taken by the Rector, the Rev Tim Treanor, and was organised by the town council. The focus was on harvest and encouraging the growing of more food locally.
A question and answer session involved Marion Vincent, of Get Set Children’s Service and Mary Bradford, of Transition Town Wellington, who spoke about using community spaces to plant fruit trees and berry bushes which local people could harvest.
