WELLINGTON Town Council is still wary of the dangers posed by getting into debate on social media.

The council is continuing to make good use of modern technology and has a website, a Facebook page and a Twitter account.

Town clerk Greg Dyke said: “These methods of communication continue to grow and are an increasingly good way of bringing up-to-date information to the community as and when it happens.”

But Mr Dyke, speaking at the recent annual parish meeting, said: “There is, however, a continuing need to be aware of the dangers of entering into debate through social media.”

He told councillors it was far better for them and the council to chat face-to-face with as there is less chance of ‘verbal typos’.
