THE town’s food and drink festival returns for another helping on Saturday, September 7. eat:Wellington is a free all day festival and it will be showcasing some fantastic local food and drink producers alongside a great line-up of free entertainment.
Backed by Porter Dodson, Hawksmoor IM and Wilkie May & Tuckwood, eat:Wellington will have more than 80 food and drink producers - including farmers’ markets favourites like ales, bread and cheese alongside top quality street food with world flavours made with local ingredients.
The festival will be taking place in South Street and along the High Street with roads closed for safety from 6a.m. to about 7p.m.
There will be a Cook School outside Porter Dodson; a drop in hands-on workshops hosted by Peter Strong. He will helping you make your own tasty treats - they are all vegan and you can drop in between 10.30-12.30, and 1.30 -3.30 to have a go. These are suitable for eight years and older and designed for families to work together.
In the Quaker Meeting House will be a screen printing workshop run by Zara Emily where you can print your own tote bag.
There will be an opportunity to vote for your best in show - and enter a prize draw sponsored by Hawksmoor IM, face painter, strolling balloon artists and street entertainers - all with a sound track of some laid-back music.
Organiser Sarah Milner Simonds said: “We are proud of the festivals we have created and we have attracted some excellent food and drink producers and we hope that visitors will be interested in the stories behind the produce.
“Wellington is a cracking town with an incredible range of independent stores - we hope that visitors to the festival will explore Wellington and become new regular visitors.”
The event is fully accessible and there are plenty of gluten free, vegan, vegetarian and dairy free options as well as smaller portions. The festival is also single-use plastic free and all food to go packaging is fully compostable- so don’t forget your shopping bags.
