BBC-forecasted thunder storms sweeping across Wellington failed to materialise on Sunday afternoon (May 3).

But, several hundred people did materialise for the annual spring fair organised by Friends of Wellington Park.

Members of Wellington Majorettes, Wellington Folk and Custom Society, and the Bootstrap Border Morris marched into the park ahead of Wellington Mayor Cllr Janet Lloyd on one of her last engagements before handing on her chain, and MP Gideon Amos, who officially opened the proceedings.

Visitors were then able to roam the 70 stalls, many manned by community organisations and local businesses fund-raising and highlighting their work, plus, a Wellington Action Group for Dogs (WAG) fun dog show, and entertainment in the bandstand, including singing by pupils of Beech Grove Primary School, Morris dancing, and a majorettes performance.
