LOCAL business professionals were welcomed to Court Fields School, Wellington, last week to help year 10 pupils prepare for the world of work by taking part in what proved to be a highly successful mock interview day.

The event was designed to help Court Fields pupils develop key employability skills and gain confidence for their future pathways.

Pupils took part in realistic interview experiences with volunteers from a range of local industries, giving them an opportunity to practise communication, presentation, and professional behaviour in a supportive but authentic setting.

Each interview mirrored real recruitment processes, allowing students to experience first-hand what employers look for in new recruits and how to respond effectively to questions.

The visiting business people gave their time to provide constructive feedback, highlighting strengths, and offering advice on areas such as how to answer questions clearly, and the importance of ‘body language’ and making a positive first impression.

The students engaged enthusiastically and demonstrated maturity, preparation, and resilience throughout the day.

Following the interviews, an awards ceremony was held to celebrate those pupils who stood out for their exceptional performance.

Awards recognised qualities such as confidence, communication skills, professionalism, and overall interview technique.

The ceremony provided a fitting conclusion to the event, acknowledging the hard work and progress made by the students.

The staff in Court Fields praised both the pupils and the visiting interviewers for making the day such a success.

A spokesperson said: “Events like this form an important part of the school’s careers education programme, helping students prepare for future interviews, work experience placements, and employment opportunities

“Court Fields School would like to extend its sincere thanks to all the local business volunteers who supported the event and helped inspire the next generation of young professionals.”
