THE League of Friends of Wellington Hospital begins a new year of fundraising with a quiz evening at Wellington Rugby Club on Friday (March 13) from 7.30pm.
The inpatient unit re-opened six months ago and continues to be well-used and with six staff recruited by the end of January the hospital was fully staffed.
Since it’s re-opening the League has bought a number of items for staff and patients. Aromatherapy massage and chiropody services for those patients who requested them were quickly reinstated and are very much appreciated.
Christmas saw the League buy a new Christmas tree for the outpatient waiting area and small gifts for patients spending Christmas in hospital. Other items include lockers and a fridge for hospital staff, a cordless phone for inpatient use, additional blood pressure machine and a syringe driver for the district nursing team.
League members have also been engaging in Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group’s Fit for My Future initiative looking at health and care services for people in Somerset. The CCG is inviting feedback from patients, carers, families, local people, stakeholders and staff. Questionnaires and further information is available at www.
fitformyfuture.org.uk – the closing date for return of questionnaires is Sunday, April 12.
Tickets for the quiz evening, priced £6, include a ploughman’s supper and are available from The Blue Pantry.
