Court Fields School, in Wellington, is celebrating its students’ success in their GCSEs and other qualifications – the culmination of hard work throughout their time at the school, particularly in the last two years of their Key Stage 4 courses.
Despite the challenges of the past 18 months, the students’ hard work and determination, along with the dedicated support of the staff, ensured that the results reflect the continued improvement of the school.
This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of ‘Teacher Assessed Grades’. These were moderated against a national standard, approved and awarded by the exam boards. The Government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic.
The school was delighted to recognise the significant achievements of many of their students. Particular congratulations go to the following. Achieving the school’s highest attainment across all their subjects were Riley Tysoe, Riley Bowler and Niamh Colgate. Emilija Bergelyte, Charlotte Robert and Megan Leslie achieved the most progress across their subjects. Henry Rowland-Hill gained a fantastic 5 Grade 9s, including Grade 9s in all separate Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics). Securing Grade 9 in both English Language and Literature were Isabella Hillier, Anthony Hendzel, Adam Harrison and Freya Billett. Rebecca Watts, Henry Rowland- Hill and Corbin Bate achieved Grade 9 in Mathematics. In Combined Science Riley Tysoe gained double Grade 9s, with Niamh Colgate and Riley Bowler securing double Grade 8s.
Headteacher Polly Matthews said: “We are so very proud of the achievements of our students, especially after such a difficult and disrupted year.
“In the most extraordinary circumstances, they have risen to meet each challenge: lockdowns, school closure, online learning, live lessons, and the cancellation of exams, in addition to the personal impacts of the Covid pandemic on their family and community.
“These results are a reflection of all their hard work and their resilience. Our teachers have worked tirelessly to ensure our students are able to progress onto further education and study.
“The Teacher Assessed Grades involved a rigorous process of moderation for each grade, in every subject. Our teachers used their extensive experience of individual students and the subject content to evaluate students’ performance across the entirety of the two-year course.
“We are extremely proud of our leavers 2021, and look forward to seeing what they will achieve in the future.”
