THE Green Flag awarded to Wellington Park this summer has been officially hoisted.
The same day a new fountain at the park, a replica of the Edwardian original, was revealed.
The Green Flag award signifies that the park boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.
Dave Mitton, vice-chairman of the Friends of Wellington Park, said: “We would like to thank Taunton Deane Borough Council for its work at the park.
“This year’s flower displays have been brilliant and relaying the footpaths has transformed the park.”
Mr Mitton added: “It has been the friends’ most successful year with 3,500 people attending the Music in the Park events on Sunday afternoons in the summer.
“People often complain about the park, particularly after vandalism last winter, but that has been greatly reduced this year thanks to police action.”
Wellington Park was also awarded a Green Flag Heritage Award in the summer.
