Gritting lorries could be deployed this week ahead of expected sub-zero temperatures.
The Met Office forecast for Wellington predicts temperatures as low as minus one degree Celsius overnight on Tuesday before the weather begins to warm later in the week.
A spokesperson for the Somerset Unitary Council said: "Throughout the winter season we grit the precautionary network whenever road surface temperatures drop below one degree Celsius. Gritters were out last night as the temperature dropped below freezing."
The fresh ice threat comes after gritters were deployed on Sunday ahead of icy overnight conditions. The council's travel advice service, Travel Somerset, warned of treacherous conditions on Monday morning particularly on untreated roads.
