WITH the bee swarming season upon us, people in the Wellington area are being urged to report any swarms of honeybees they see to local beekeepers.

Somerset Beekeepers, who have an apiary at Heatherton Park, Bradford-on-Tone say swarms that are collected and safely removed can have a better chance of survival than if left in the wild.

Jackie Mosedale, chairman of Somerset Beekeepers, said: "With honey bee numbers under threat we don't want to lose swarms. As long as it is safe and practicable, we're keen to collect them and give them a new home."
