But Deane planning officer Matthew Bale said it would be an unplanned extension to the town which would not help Wellington to expand in a sustainable manner.
Wellington town councillor Lynda Russell-Cairns, who represents Rockwell Green and campaigned against the development, said: “I am so pleased the Deane has supported the views of the town council and so many local people who were against these plans."
