MP's column: Gideon Amos, Liberal Democrat MP for Taunton and WellingtonRural rounds around the town were suspended on Thursday morning as postmen slipped and slid on frosty roads and pavements, leaving customers waiting in vain for deliveries of the last cards and letters before Christmas Day.
Among the worst affected areas were the Barn Meads and Ford Street areas to the south of the town.
Most of the 18 rounds based at the Wellington sorting office in White Hart Lane were suspended as postmen were sent home.
