THE curate at St John’s Parish Church, Wellington, Julie Scott, has been ordained to the Priesthood in Wells Cathedral.

Members of the congregation went by coach to support her and take part in the service.

The following day was her first occasion of presiding at the Eucharist in the church.

This was a joint service for all the churches in the Wellington and District Team.

A spokesperson for the church said: “We enjoyed a dramatised gospel reading by the Open the Book team and our director of music, John Young, had composed an anthem especially for the service, and this was sung by a joint choir of people across the team.

“After the service there was sparkling wine and a cake provided and beautifully decorated by Jackie’s Cakes and Catering, Topside, Newlands Farm, Wellington.”
