MOST people shopping around Wellington before Christmas will have noticed knitted sheep hiding among the displays in shop windows.

The flock was created in 2015 but recently wandered off making its way into shops, although several, who must be book lovers, ended up in the library.

Rewards – prizes – were offered to help find the missing sheep, which shepherds have now rounded up. Over Christmas the sheep were part of the Nativity displays in churches and will now be returned to the flock.

Knitted Sheep Trail organisers would like to congratulate everyone who helped find the runaways and the shops which took part – many were sad when the shepherds came to collect them, promising they had taken good care of them while in their custody.

Prizes were given out at the Christingle Service at St John’s Church on Christmas Eve. Those who found all 57 sheep were: Abigail Cook, Emma Perry, Mchayla Hooper, Chelsea McDonald, Jack McDonald, Simon and Brenda White, Joshua and Reece Burke, Beatrice Varley and Benedict Varley. Runners-up were: Alannah Lewis, Tim Beaumont, Samantha Vinail and Daisy Peters.
