THE town centre in Wellington will take another hit this weekend when the King’s Arms closes, writes Barry Knott.

The licensees are thought to be giving up the lease because “they are not making any money.” At the moment there are no plans for the pub to re-open.

The King’s is not only one of the most popular pubs in town but is also home to four skittle teams – Royals, Queen’s Legs (men), Dragonflies and Ladybirds (women).

The pub will be serving its last pint on Sunday night. Its closure adds to the number of empty buildings in the town centre.
