M5 delays during bank holiday caused by overturned lorry

MOTORISTS experienced lengthy delays on the M5 motorway near Wellington on Bank Holiday Monday morning after a lorry overturned and spilled its load.

The nearside lane of the northbound carriageway was closed after the accident happened between junctions 27 for Tiverton and 25 for Wellington at about 6 am.

It took more than three hours to recover the vehicle and clear the road, but congestion continued for some time even after all three lanes were open again.
