BBC television reporter Clinton Rogers officially opened the extended Tim Potter’s butchers shop in Fore Street, Wellington, on Friday.

Tim, who has been in business 24 years, took over the former Powell’s Workwear store next door to expand his own shop. He said: “We were so busy, we couldn’t fit everyone in! It is a case of moving forward and not standing still.”

The extension, which has taken six months from planning to completion, incorporates an expanded deli area and hot food section.

The deli is selling cooked meats, pies and sausage rolls, plus coleslaw, potato salads, pasta and Somerset cheese, among others, and has a coffee machine.

Hot food includes roast pork and beef rolls, steak baguettes, and breakfast boxes including bacon, sausage, hash browns and eggs.

Tim’s daughter Katie and Adrian Atkinson, a chef for 25-plus years, will be running the new area on a day-to-day basis.

Potter’s employs nine full-time staff plus two part-timers.
