RETIRED primary school teacher Mary McVeigh is vowing to continue her fight over access to land at the back of the old Three Cups in Fore Street, Wellington, where permission has been given for seven houses to be built.

Miss McVeigh lives in Three Cups Cottage next to the United Reformed Church to her right with an alleyway on the other side of her house and the neighbouring Cedar Cottage and Beech Cottage, which were all part of the pub.

Her front door opens directly onto the alleyway, which is just 1.75 metres wide at its narrowest point, and is the planned access to the building site, the old pub garden. It will also serve as the access for the people who eventually buy the properties.
