FORMER soldier Cllr Bob Bowrah has been chosen as Mayor of Taunton Deane for the coming year while his wife, Liz, is Mayoress.

The new Mayor was elected at Taunton Deane Borough Council's Mayor-making ceremony on Wednesday.

Cllr Bowrah said that spreading the message about the importance of family life would be one of his aims during his year in office, adding: "I value family life a great deal – it is so important."
