AN air ambulance landed in Rockwell Green early on Saturday morning (August 30) in response to what was believed to be a medical emergency.

The Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) was mobilised from Exeter shortly after 9 am and is thought to have landed in a playing field on the Dobree Park estate before flying a patient to Musgrove Park Hospital, in Taunton.

It was the second local call out for DAA after it attended a crash between a car and a recycling lorry on the Blackdown Hills above Wellington on Wednesday morning (August 27).

Seven people were hurt in the collision in Church Road, Churchinford, and the air ambulance flew a woman casualty to Southmead Hospital, in Bristol.

A second patient was taken by land ambulance to Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton.

The woman’s injuries were not though to be life-changing or life-threatening.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) sent three double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer, and a doctor to Churchinford.

Two firefighting crews from Taunton Fire Station were also dispatched by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 10.45 am, or anybody with dashcam or CCTV footage of it, to call 101 and give the reference number 5225241990.
