The Wellington Weekly News has been full of pictures from schools of children enjoying the run-up to Christmas, with nativity plays, choirs, and involvement in the community to spread the joy of the festive season more widely.
Here is one example of what's been happening at Court Fields School in Wellington. You can see more festive school pictures in the latest edition of the Weekly News.
AS ALWAYS it has been a busy end to the term at Court Fields School, Wellington. The school would like to thank Langford Lakes for the donation of their school Christmas tree, which was decorated by Year 7 and 8 students and is proudly on display on the school stage.
The school continued the festive spirit with the Christmas Concert on Wednesday of last week. The event was produced by Year 11 BTEC Music students, who entertained a packed hall with a range of musical talents. Congratulations to Lucille C in Year 8, for winning the house competition with her amazing Ukulele performance.
Jess from Year 11 said: “ It was a fantastic experience and I really enjoyed performing with Bea. It was great to get back on the stage and perform to a live audience.”
The school celebrated students’ behaviour and attendance success with a trip to the cinema on Friday. Students enjoyed watching Home Alone, a real Christmas classic. Evie said: “I had seen the film before, but it was nice to watch it on the big screen, as when it came out, I wasn’t even born. It was nice to share success with peers in my year group.”
Mrs Westwood said “It was excellent to take more students than ever, being in Best Behaviour and 100 club. We are extremely proud of our students and the hard work and effort they put into school daily.”
On Monday Year 7s visited Bristol Hippodrome to watch the pantomime, Cinderella. Cami said: “I loved seeing Craig Revel-Horwood, it was an amazing show and he was fa-bul-ous!” Students were amazed by the bright lights, set, costume, from a show that was filled with lots of fun and laughter.
Tuesday was Monument Reward day. Monument won the house cup announced in October and were treated to an additional non uniform day and time on the inflatables. Daniel said: “it was a really nice day and we got to spend time with friends and celebrate all our hard work.”
House Leader Mrs Bradshaw stated: “It was lovely to see all the Monument students celebrating winning the cup. All students have worked hard to achieve this and really show a fantastic commitment to the school’s ethos of Achieve, Belong, Participate. We look forward to the rest of the year collecting our house points.”
Throughout the final week students attended celebration assemblies and students will be treated to sweet treats on Friday.
Court Fields would like to thank all the staff, students, parents, carers and community for their continued support during this busy term. The school wishes everyone a relaxing festive break and look forward to working with everyone in 2023.
