MORE than 2,000 people gathered in Wellington Park as the town hosted its very first Garden of Light event on Saturday, October 25.

Organised by FUSE Somerset Outdoor Arts and Wellington Town Council, guests experienced a breadth of performances and lighting displays.

The whole evening was themed around nature and native species, with lanterns and art pieces depicting flowers, the Earth and the moon, alongside a range of different animals.

Performances ranged from a storyteller sharing a tale of ‘The Squirrel and the Lost Treasure’, to fire and aerial performances in the centre of the park.

A spokesperson for Wellington Town Council said: “This event was the first of its kind in Wellington and the support it received from the community has been immensely encouraging.”
