A MUSIC charity will be visiting the Wellington area early next year and entertaining local children.
Jackdaws aims to improve and extend access to music through active projects and the group will be working with children in a performance of The Stylist of Somerset – an inclusive production of Rossini’s Barber of Seville – in January.
This will be performed by professional young artists alongside children from schools in and around Wellington including Court Fields, St John’s, Rockwell Green, and Oake, Bradford & Nynehead.
Two performances will take place in Wellington – the opportunity to attend was offered to all schools in the area and were fully subscribed within a week.

Cllr Andrew Govier said it made a ‘refreshing’ change to receive a grant application for a small amount of money. “This is refreshing that we have been asked to contribute a small amount to a large and exciting project that will engage with a lot of children,” he said.
Cllr Vivienne Stock-Williams added: “I have great respect for this group and what it does. I’m very supportive of this.”
The finance committee’s decision to support the project was ratified by Wellington’s full council.
