Everly Brothers tribute band Cleverly Everly and the 60s Tribute Show are to make a return appearance to the Brewhouse Theatre in Taunton – and this time they will be helping to raise money for the Samaritans charity.

The band feature BBC Points West correspondent Clinton Rogers and his brother Stan, who has been a Samaritan in Taunton for a number of years.

Today Stan said: “Working closely with the charity gives me an insight into the important work they do with some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

“They rely entirely on voluntary donations and we just thought we should do our little bit to support them.”

Cleverly Everly will be appearing at the Brewhouse on Saturday, October 26. It will be the band’s fourth visit there and a percentage of the income from the show will go to the charity.

The brothers – together with Stan’s wife Uta and lead guitarist Steve Craig – have enjoyed tremendous success since forming a tribute act ‘to our favourite musicians’ five years ago. They have been in demand at clubs and theatres across the county and are almost completely booked up for the next year.

“We had such a tremendous time at the Brewhouse last time we played and to be asked to come back is a real honour,” said Clint, whose day job is as BBC Points West’s Somerset correspondent.

The Cleverly Everly act also features ‘guests’ who help to recreate music from what is often known as the golden age of pop music – the 60s. Cover versions of hits from artists like Buddy Holly, Dusty Springfield and the Shadows are featured. And there’s also a bit of comedy thrown in for good measure.

“For us it’s all about bringing back memories for the audience and getting people to let their hair down. The idea is you don’t leave without a smile on your face,” said Stan.

Tickets – at £16 – can be bought online from www.thebrewhouse.net or by calling the theatre on 01823 283244.
