A NEW policing pathway has been launched to support veterans and service leaders.
Avon and Somerset Police have announced the launch of the Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP), their new non-degree entry pathway for police constables.
The policing pathway offers a structured training programme which has been designed to support veterans and service leavers who have served a minimum of two years in the British Armed Forces to transition into a fulfilling career in the public sector.
It follows an ‘earn while you learn’ model, combining full pay with comprehensive training, and includes a diploma in policing, offered in partnership with the University of the West of England (UWE).

Chief Superintendent Liz Hughes said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer this brand-new pathway into an exciting and varied policing career.
“The Police Constable Entry Programme recognises the unique strengths and skillsets that military personnel bring to the table, from courage and self-discipline to being able to make the right decisions under pressure.
“We’re committed to creating a supportive environment for them, with opportunities for ongoing professional development, mentorship and, if applicable, maintaining their reservist commitments alongside their full-time role.”
