IT was good to see Bradford Players’ latest performance of Norman Robbins’ ‘Prescription for Murder’ being performed to good-sized audiences.
Lionel Took ably directed and produced this play with a seven-strong cast.
I like the way the Players make good use of established, experienced members while also introducing new members to the group. This play was a good vehicle for that and an ideal play for the venue and the group.
The story was an interesting one with lots of twists and turns along the way, so just when you thought you’d worked out who did what, all of a sudden you realised you hadn’t after all!

MP's column: Gideon Amos, Liberal Democrat MP for Taunton and WellingtonAdded to that some humour along the way and the audience were ‘ooh-ing’ and ‘aah-ing’ and chuckling in all the right places.
Alongside the very able cast there were very competent technical people, again including people new to the group.
I feel it unfair to highlight any particular person in this show as it was very much a team production. Well done, Players!
If you feel you would like to be part of their next production they are about to launch into yet another of Norman Robbins’ plays – this time the very funny ‘A Tomb With A View’, one of my favourites.
Auditions are tomorrow (Thursday) at Bradford-on-Tone village hall at 7.30pm. If you are interested, but cannot make that date, please contact the director, Lynn Henden, on [email protected]. You will be very welcome. CONTRIBUTED
