MOTORISTS beware – Les Winter is back on the road!
The former garage owner, 88, who survived a life-threatening accident just over a year ago, has bought himself a £1,500 electric tricycle.
Les fell from a ladder while trying to cut back a tree in Cornhill in Wellington.
He was treated at the scene by the emergency services for his injuries, which included a fractured skull and ten broken ribs.
He was eventually taken to Musgrove Park Hospital by land ambulance with injuries considered life-threatening at the time because of his age.
Doctors say he must have been a very fit pensioner to have survived.
Daughter Kim Thorne said: “Dad no longer drives because he has sold his car, so this has given him a new lease of life.”
