THERE are nearly 40,000 administrators - or managers - in the NHS, but not one of them is capable of sorting out bed blocking in our hospitals.
It has been going on for as long as I can remember. And it’s actually getting worse, not better. There are thousands of patients in hospital who should not be there at all. They are not ill as such. But they’ve nowhere to go.
We once had convalescent homes where they could complete their recovery but some bright spark decided to get rid of them.
What happened to these homes because they would certainly be welcome if they were made available today.
