Artists raised nearly £1,100 to support the work of the NSPCC with an exhibition of paintings at The Old Brick Workshop gallery at Poole.

The money came from sales, visitor donations and a share of gallery commission.

Visitors were invited to vote for their favourite exhibit and the clear winner was a Cornish seascape by Diana Farrington.

Moira Smith, local organiser for the charity, said: “I’m delighted it went so well on all fronts! This is fantastic result for the NSPCC.”

The mixed exhibition, entitled Springing Back, was made up of work created by participants in adult courses run at The Old Brick Workshop by local artist Claire Western.

Gallery owner Alison Cosserat said the public response was tremendous. “We would like to say a huge thank you to all the many, many visitors to this show and to friends and followers for all their encouragement and support during this very difficult year,” she said.

“It has been wonderful to see all the people here with so much enthusiasm and praise of the work.”
