THE path from Wellington to Wellington Monument will become more

accessible once improvement work has been completed.

The path, which goes through the Wellington Castle Fields Reserve, has been resurfaced, and later in the year work will be carried out clearing scrub, adding signage and fencing.

The work is being carried out by Somerset Wildlife Trust working with Blackdowns AONB, National Trust, Somerset County Council and Wellington Without Parish Council as part of the Wellington Access Improvement Project.

Senior reserves manager David Northcote-Wright said: “Due to the increased popularity of the walk between Wellington and the monument the path through the reserve has been getting more and more muddy.

“This project is designed to both make the walk more enjoyable and protect the flower-rich grassland which was being damaged by the increasingly large areas of mud.”
