A POTENTIAL new housing development in West Buckland is causing concern for residents who previously saw an application on the same site refused.

The previous application was for nearly 50 homes on land close to the village primary school between France Lane and Morrishes Farm.

Now, the scheme has been revived by Cherwyn Developments Ltd but with proposals for fewer than half the number of homes.

Cherwyn Developments, which is less than a year old, is considering asking for consent for around 18 to 20 properties.

The homes would be a mixture of open market and affordable and would include some bungalows.

It has offered to include a car park for staff from the school to reduce the need for them to park in narrow Silver Street.

The company is led by managing director Chris Winter, who is also managing director of Summerfield Developments.

It arranged an informal presentation on its plans last month for West Buckland parish councillors and said it would later hold a public consultation to seek local residents’ views on the issue.

Cherwyn Developments is currently also pushing forward with plans for 12 homes in Hatch Beauchamp where it held a consultation event in early June.
