FAST food chain McDonald’s has been given planning permission to open a ‘drive-thru’ restaurant on the edge of Wellington.
The 24-hour family restaurant will be built at Westpark 26, Chelston, across the road from the Shell petrol station and Budgens convenience store.
Its 0.94-acre site will also include a 15 feet high children’s outdoor climbing frame and 45 car parking spaces.
Planning consultants WYG, also based at Chelston, said the McDonald’s outlet would bring 65 full- and part-time jobs to Wellington, equivalent to 45 full-time staff.
WYG said a McDonald’s at Westpark 26 would be an additional food offering for existing occupiers and visitors, making the business park more attractive for customers and for future businesses.
It said the McDonald’s would provide direct and indirect economic benefits for the area without adversely impacting Wellington town centre.
