PUBLIC notices cover a range of applications, from licensing for liqueur or entertainment to planning applications, roadworks and other works.

Their intention is to inform communities of the latest plans in their area and such applications are considered for approval or refusal by local authorities.

Here are some of the latest applications submitted to Somerset Council in Wellington:

North Street faces almost two weeks of evening closures

Somerset Council have given notice that all traffic will be prevented from proceeding along North Street, Wellington, from its junction with Fore Street to its junction with Old Court Mews.

The temporary closure has been put in place to enable Heidelberg to carry out resurfacing works on behalf of Somerset Highways.

Works will commence on Monday, November 17, and are expected to last until Thursday, November 27. The road will only be closed for the works between 6.30pm and 11.30pm each night.

Temporary closure of Butts Way

Traffic will be prevented from proceeding along Butts Way, Milverton, from its junction with Sand Street, for a total distance of 412 metres.

The closure has been put in place so that Openreach can replace a pole.

The road will be closed between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm on Thursday, December 4.

Roads near Hockworthy to be closed

Notice has been given by Devon County Council that roads running from Hockford Waters Cross to Chimney Down Cross will be closed to motorists.

This temporary restriction has been put in place to allow for direct drilling installation of a new water main to replace a failing three inch asbestos water main, which will be conducted by Kier on behalf of South West Water.

The closure will be in place from Monday, December 1, and is expected to last until Friday, December 12.

Additional operating centre request

Southwest Heavy Haulage Ltd is applying to add an operating centre at its site at Unit One, Shrubbery Cottage, Burlescombe, where they would be able to keep two goods vehicles and two trailers.

Owners or occupiers of land near the operating centres who believe that their use or enjoyment of that land would be affected, should make written representations to the Traffic Commissioner at Quarry House, Quarry Hill, Leeds, LS2 7UE within 21 days of this notice.

Those making representations must also send a copy of their representations to the applicant at the address given at the top of this notice.
