Permission for modular classroom at Churchstanton Primary School

PLANNING permission is sought to replace a modular classroom at Churchstanton Primary School into a similarly sized building.

The previous building, which has been removed, was intended as a temporary building and was in need of “urgent replacement”.

The proposed building will be a “simple rectangular form” and be situated to the south of the existing school.

The building will be more energy efficient and contain one classroom as well as bathrooms and storage.

It will feature dark blue contrasting metal cladding to the external elevations.

The building will have no impact on parking and access requirements will remain unaffected.

The site is not located within or close to any Conservation Area.

Garage conversion to facilitate childminding

PLANNING permission is sought for a garage conversion at a property in Cortford St Luke to facilitate childminding.

The proposal at 92 Burge Meadow will involve the existing garage door being replaced with a pedestrian door and window to match the existing at the dwelling in style, form and materiality.

The garage area will be converted into a usable space for childminding, and the office will be converted to a bathroom.

Emma and Joel Carter, applicants of the proposal, said: “I'm seeking approval to convert my home garage into a dedicated childminding setting. The proposed setting will operate from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm, Monday to Thursday, providing childcare services for a small number of children within a safe, well-supervised environment.

“Although the garage is attached to the neighbouring garage, the proposed works are entirely internal, with no impact on the structure, stability, or use of the neighbouring property. No shared walls will be altered in a way that affects the adjoining building.

“The proposed works will not alter the footprint of the property, will not increase noise levels beyond normal residential use, and will not cause any negative impact on the surrounding area.”

The property includes an ample front driveway, an attached side garage, currently used for storage rather than parking, with an office behind and a private rear garden, consistent with the character and layout of the surrounding residential street.
