PLANS have been supported to turn the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Wellington into two homes.
The premises in White Hart Lane have become outdated and inadequate to accommodate the growing congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Wellington.
The building stands empty and marketing attempts to find an alternative user for the premises has failed.

Members of Wellington Town Council’s planning committee this month gave the application its support.
The Wellington congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses now meet in
the Kingdom Hall in High Street, Taunton.
Jonathan Fisher, co-ordinator of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, said: “The opportunity to relocate to the much better equipped and larger premises in Taunton was considered to be a much better alternative and this has proved to be the case.
“We anticipated also, that by sharing the Taunton facilities, we would be able to make economies in running and maintenance costs to the benefit of the congregation.”
A decision on the planning application is expected to be made by Taunton Deane by the end of the year.
