THE police and district council are seeking the public’s views on Wellington’s community spaces, including the park, recreational ground and skate park at the sports centre.

The Somerset West and Taunton Council and Avon and Somerset Police survey has three key objectives:

To gather information on current use and satisfaction with parks and open spaces, which will feed into an action plan for the district council and partners

To identify the impact of anti-social behaviour in public places and ways to address it

To identify and provide evidence of ways to support young people and the wider community in Wellington

The surveys were distributed at the Spring Fair at Wellington Park and Wellington Street Fair earlier this year.

Partnership officer Sharon Baker said: “It made good reading, with the majority of respondents feeling positive about the area. It also confirmed some concerns and identified work that can be done to improve the look or feel of the various parks and other areas.”

Anyone who would like to complete the survey can do so through the Facebook accounts of Wellington PCSOs Simon Bramley and Steve Hill, and on Twitter at @ASPolice Welly Wivy or @SWTCouncil

Paper copies of the survey are available at the district and town community offices in Fore Street and Wellington Police Station in Victoria Street. The survey should only take five to ten minutes to complete and the results will be available later this year.

The police enquiry office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 10am-2pm.
