THE MP for Taunton and Wellington, Gideon Amos, is hosting a ‘Rebuilding our NHS’ public meeting at the end of May with a panel of health experts to answer questions.

Mr Amos’s call for a public meeting follows a 2,000-person response to his survey on NHS dentistry, and his contributions in Parliament on the need for investment in Musgrove Park Hospital - for a new new Maternity and Paediatric Unit - which Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey also supported at Prime Minister’s Questions recently.

Hosted by Mr Amos, the meeting to discuss local NHS services is set to take place from 7.30pm on Friday, May 30, at Taunton’s Memorial Hall.

The MP said: “I was blown away by so many people responding to my survey on NHS dentistry and I am grateful to all 2,000 local people who shared their experiences and gave me a great deal of insight into the effect the broken system is having on their lives.

“The response to the survey shows that my constituents want to have their voices heard.

“The next step to make that possible is therefore this Public Meeting, where I will share the initial findings of my survey, and open up the discussion and get expert responses to issues faced by the NHS and to issues raised at the event.”

The meeting will be free of charge and will feature recent Taunton GP Dr Lucy Pendered, Jonathan Mynors-Wallis of the British Dental Association, and Cllr Sarah Wakefield (Somerset Council Lead Member for Adult Services) who will be answering questions from the audience.
