THE Exmoor Pony Centre, headquarters of The Moorland Mousie Trust, is set to take over the Pop-Up Shop in Wellington for a week.

The charity will have secondhand books, pony-themed gifts, charity and fundraising items plus lots more for sale at the shop in Fore Street from January 20-26.

Pony centre manager Linzi Green said: “We are delighted to be at the Pop-Up and hope that lots of people will come to see us, find out about our work and have a look at our items for sale.”

Doulla Aebli, a charity volunteer and sculptor who lives in Wellington, will be making ceramics, which will be for sale. She hopes to see lots of people visit the shop, which will be manned by volunteers, and is open from 10am-5.30pm.

Linzi said the charity is always looking to boost funds, particularly at this time of year when hay, feed and bedding costs are high. The charity has recently taken in more ponies, rescuing six animals destined for slaughter at a yard in Yorkshire.

The charity intervened and the ponies now have a safe and secure future, but the rescue has already cost more than £1,800 in transport and administration costs.

Linzi added: “Wellington Pop-Up is a great facility for the local community and for organisations such as the charity. The Exmoor Pony Centre has its fingers crossed for a busy week of trading.”
