WELLINGTON’S Pop-Up Shop has just two slots left to fill this year as its popularity grows.
Introduced in 2019 the shop at 31 Fore Street has become an unprecedented success story for Wellington Town Council.
The space offers local entrepreneurs the chance to have retail space for a limited time and try out new business ideas in a real high-street scenario. It is also used by businesses or crafters to have a more structured selling space for a short span of time instead of the usual market circuit. Businesses ranging from dog treats to oil paintings have occupied the shop since its inception.
The shop is also regularly hired by charities and community groups to raise money and awareness.
Wellington Town Council will give not-for-profit organisations a week in the Pop-Up Shop for free once per year.

As per the council’s handbook, this will be done once a month or up to 12 times per year with “free” bookings for the shop only needing to pay a £100 deposit which will be refunded minus the cost of electricity used during their stay.
A Wellington Town Council spokesperson said: “The shop is rented for periods from one week up to one month to enable businesses, crafters, charities, and community groups to use the space in almost any way they like.
“We have seen bookshops, art galleries, bike repair shops, art classes, crafts, information, and fundraising going on in the Pop-Up Shop and it is always exciting to see how the next tenant will bring the shop to life.
“2026 has been an especially great year for the Pop-Up Shop and the Town Council only has two weeks left available for rent commencing July 20 and September 14."
