THE Wellington Basins Volunteer Group, with the help of a private donation, has removed the fallen Poplar tree spanning the leat at the Basins.
John Paget, of Silva Tree Surgeons, Taunton, made light work of removing all trace of the tree.
The Poplar had caused pressure on the bank over the years since it fell and at times leakage from the large lake concerned group members.
It was feared it would eventually collapse and cause damage to the water flow to the two lakes.
Volunteer group secretary Lynda Russell-Cairns said: “We are all extremely grateful to all those involved who helped us rectify this problem.”
