CUSTOMERS at Rule 7 in High Street, Wellington, have contributed £185 to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

They had to pay a fine of 50p for using the ‘C’ word – ‘Christmas’ – during November.

Rule 7 owner Donna Munson (right) is pictured handing a cheque to local Poppy Appeal organiser Monica Summers.

Monica, who is stepping down from the role, said: “I would like to thank residents, businesses and associations for supporting the work of the Royal British Legion.

“I will be retiring as organiser this year going out on a high, the collection for the area being £10,400. Thank you very much to everyone for their support.”
