STAWLEY Primary School near Wellington is celebrating an impressive set of SATS results published in the 2018 Primary School League Tables.

Head teacher Jacqui Collier said pupils had achieved some of the best results in Somerset and outperformed local and national averages.

She added: “I am so proud of the achievements of our happy, caring school – these truly impressive results are a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our staff and children.

“The school has been following several targeted improvement programmes and is one of only a few schools in the county to be included in the 2018-19 Strategic School Improvement Fund Key Stage 2 Maths Improvement Programme supported by the Department of Education.

“We work hard to ensure that every pupil follows an individual programme of learning and enjoys a broad education with plenty of opportunity to engage in sport and extra- curricular activities.

“The school has had great success in sport and our teams are currently reigning Small Schools Kwik Cricket, Girls Kwik Cricket and Netball Champions.

“Music also plays a big part in our curriculum with many children learning to play musical instruments. Staff and children also recently took part in a Teachers Rock Youth Choir concert at Exeter Cathedral alongside other teachers and pupils from across the South- West.

‘I would like to thank our staff, pupils, parents and Governors for all their effort and support and look forward to continuing our success in coming years.”
