SPORTSMEN and women are hailing plans for new facilities at Wellington's Playing Field as a 'major step forward' for sport in the town.

The town's 1950s sports pavilion is in line for a major makeover thanks to a £125,858 windfall.

The money has come from Sport England's Inspired Facilities Fund following a successful bid by Taunton Deane Borough Council, in partnership with Wellington and District Sports Federation.
