COUNCILLORS have agreed to spend £2,785 on removing two Ash trees from the allotments car park at Wellington Basins.

Cllr Janet Lloyd told members of Wellington Town Council earlier this month that the work to cut them down was urgently needed.

“The trees are in a dangerous condition and they will fall on people if we don’t do something about them,” she said.

The trees had also become home to bees and these would also need to be removed.

Mayor Cllr Gary James, said: “The trees need to be sorted out in the safety of the allotment holders.”
