PUPILS from Wellington School met the Countess of Wessex when she visited Wellington last week.
Children from Year 4 and some Senior School musicians met Sophie, Countess of Wessex, at dementia charity Reminiscence Learning, where she learnt more about the work it does.
The Countess, whose brother attended Wellington School, enjoyed a concert given by Wellington School musicians. Sixth-former Abi Govey was introduced to the Countess before singing a range of songs, accompanied by director of Music Andrew Trewhella.
James Morrell in Year 10 and Harry Tabb in Year 7 also sang, while the Countess enjoyed tea with some of the staff and members of the centre.
They were also joined by Angela Rippon CBE, former BBC newsreader and television personality, who is patron of Reminiscence Learning’s inter-generational dementia awareness Archie Project.
Prep School pupils enjoyed an assembly about the project recently and will be taking part in activities with the Archie Project to help raise awareness of dementia among younger children.
Wellington School musicians have performed a number of concerts at the venue as part of the Archie Project.
