BUDDING newshounds at Beech Grove Primary School in Wellington have taken part in a radio broadcast for BBC Somerset dubbed Playground Politics.

Breakfast Show presenter Claire Carter went along to the school in Courtland Road to meet Year Six pupils and get their views on a range of topics.

The conversation started about food and whether pupils felt the Government should be dictating portion sizes and calories to help prevent obesity.

The pupils were then shown a photograph and asked to name the person – it was Russian president Vladimir Putin – and although none were able to say who it was they did think he was ‘possibly a politician’.

They were then asked to point out Russia on the world map and successfully completed that challenge.

Pupils then talked about technology and the issues involved with it before moving to a lighter subject and a comparison of playground games from Claire’s time at school and now.
