The newly formed Wilbye Quartet is giving a concert on Saturday, August 28, at Wellington Methodist Church in Waterloo Road in aid of church funds.
The local amateur singers are all experienced classical singers and will be performing a varied selection of short motets, madrigals and partsongs for four voices.
The programme includes music by Byrd, Bruckner and Elgar, and madrigals by Dowland, Bennet and John Wilbye.
The concert is at 3.30pm and should end at about 5pm. Tea and coffee will be available in the interval. Admission is free but must be pre-booked. A retiring collection will be held in aid of church funds.
