HOBBY photographer Paul Steven, from West Buckland, has had his take on British life included in a new book released in aid of Children in Need.
His photo of Yeovil carnival club Xtreme CC taken at Taunton Carnival is one of 300 photographs chosen from thousands featured in ‘This Is Britain’, which it is hoped will raise £250,000 for the charity.
Paul, who works as a multimedia developer, said: “It was brilliant to have my photo selected – it was a real last-minute thing and taking photos at carnivals in the dark can be a real struggle. Ironically, my pictures of this year’s Wellington Carnival were not so good!”
The competition asked entrants to capture a normal day in their lives taken from Friday to Sunday over a long weekend in October and moving from early morning to late at night.
Internationally renowned photographer Rankin chose the photos for the book which are printed in 14 chapters reflecting the span of a day in the life of the country, from waking up to work, coffee break, family time and an evening out.
Paul, who used a Canon 5D MkIII camera for his photo, likes taking all kinds of pictures but most frequently animals on Exmoor.
