LOCAL MP Rebecca Pow has been doing some spade work to help commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.

She planted a Wellingtonia tree at Hoyles Road in Wellington as part of a Wellington in Bloom (WiB) initiative to commemorate the landmark anniversary of the battle. The town council paid for the tree and a neighbour will water it. WiB has planted several Wellingtonias around the town and on the skyline over the years to mark notable events.
