Emergency services were called out after a woman was seen lying by the roadside in Wellington.

A motorist noticed the woman, believed to be middle aged, on a grass verge at the side of Hoyles Close, off Hoyles Road, near the Wellington relief road.

They called the emergency services and police and two ambulances were sent to the scene on Thursday morning.

One witness said the person appeared to have an injury, but that has not been confirmed.

The police and ambulance services have been contacted for more information.
